In 1990, I decided to change my career associated with weaving and started working in the computer industry in Calgary, but missed creating art. After an initial glassblowing class, I took further classes at the Alberta University of Arts in Calgary. I only picked up my camera to take images of my glass or while I was on holidays.

One day a friend said “you really need to focus on photography as your holiday images are really good.”

I took this to heart.

After taking a few classes at Mount Royal University, I learned some of the basics of how a camera works and continued to look for other workshops that would interest me. By 2014 I had given up glassblowing and turned my focus to photography. Freeman Patterson and André Gallant from New Brunswick, provided the initial guidance that enabled me to see in a non documentary way with my camera. In 2020, with Zoom classes becoming the norm, I was introduced to Valda Baliey & Doug Chinnery from the UK, who guided my path into the world of multiple exposure images.

Interestingly, I now receive comments that my images remind some of my woven fabrics. Colour and texture have followed me throughout my life.

Over the past few years, I have become a juried member of the Alberta Society of Artist, Abstract’d Art Collective and Rhythm of the Unseen Collective. I have participated in several group shows in Canada, USA, and the UK.
